Sunny Emmerich
Sunny's mother, Olga, was a woman who had been captured by the Legion in Arizona. David and Jack encountered her while raiding a Legion Camp as per a client's orders. She explained to them that she had cut a deal with the Brotherhood of Steel in order to get their hands on a lot of Pre-War technology that had been brought to the United States from Russia before the War. When it was time to do the information trade, she realized that she had been fooled-- it wasn't the Brotherhood at all, it had been the Enclave.
Olga was mortified because she had recently given birth in what she thought was a Brotherhood Bunker, but realized it was all a trap set for her and her family of Nomads. The bunker she had given birth in belonged to the Enclave and they stole her child from her, taking her secrets and selling her to the Legion.
Olga tells Jack and David to find her child, to rescue her from 'the Patriots', as she had referred to them. David tried to take Olga with him, telling her that he had a friend who would be able to get rid of the collar around her neck, but no sooner had the suggestion been made that her collar had been activated, killing her instantly.
Some time later, Jack appeared on David and Hal's doorstep with a toddler in his arms. He told them that he'd managed to track down Olga's child and rescue her, but he'd paid a heavy price... As was evidenced by his missing arm and bloodied body. Jack disappeared soon after that, without a word.
Sunny was raised by David and Hal, though the former was struggling with his accelerated aging, which was doing a number on his body and health, not to mention the fact he refused to quit smoking. Eventually, the three moved down to the Mojave Wasteland, settling in Primm. Sunny was extremely smart and would help Otacon with his machines, even creating some of her own gadgets. Otacon assumed that the Enclave must have messed with her brain, remembering some experiments like that taking place when he was with them. David continued working as a mercenary in order to bring in caps to provide for Hal and Sunny, who were also creating things to sell to travelers.
Sunny and David are very close, though the latter holds a great amount of guilt in his heart for not being able to save Sunny's mother. He still has nightmares of her dying in front of him; these nightmares only fuel his hatred for the Legion.
Sunny has created a few gadgets for David, namely an eyepatch that works like a pair of binoculars, though it's only for one eye. He expressed how it would be a bit hard to use, but appreciated the hard work that went into it regardless.
