(Information about Fallout!Old Snake.)

This character NOT a Courier, but a mercenary for hire. He was once enlisted in the NCR, but quit for various reasons, moving down the Mojave Wasteland with Hal "Otacon" and Sunny and becoming a Merc. Otacon and Sunny live in Primm, and were in danger when the Powder Gangers took over (David was away on a Caravan Protecting operation at the time). When he'd come back, he worked with the Courier in order to take back Primm. The Courier asked him if he'd be interested in being Primm's Sheriff, but Snake was adamant that he wasn't fit to uphold the law. (Something about not being a Hero.) He is a possible companion, but only if your karma is neutral (though you can still keep him even if your karma goes higher later). If your karma is too low or too high before you recruit him, you will need to go through a SPEECH 40 check. It is possible to go back for him later if your speech is not high enough level yet.**

You cannot be liked by the Legion or working with them, but you can be liked or involved with the NCR (due to David being former NCR at one point in his life). David also seems to appreciate what the Followers of the Apocalypse stand for. When the Courier meets David, he is wearing a Sheriff's Duster and hat, and when asked about them, he will comment that he was given these things by an old friend. He mentions that he doesn't like hats, but he can't leave this one behind.

His personality is relatively the same; he's quiet, speaks in a gravely voice. He's extremely skilled with hand-to-hand combat and guns, despite his old age. He likes to read magazines (particularly any undamaged ones with moderately hot women), smoke cigarettes and talk about guns. He will also give the Courier tips on how to stay hidden, lots of information on whatever gun they have equipped, and even tell goofy stories about hiding in a box to avoid being spotted. With David as a companion, the Courier gains the "Scorched Shadow" perk, which permits the player to move quickly while crouching without grabbing anyone's attention.

Snake will often mention that he has no interest in being a Hero, but he appears to have a strong sense of morality (for being a hired killer). If he thinks something shitty is going down for anyone, he'll be the first to arm himself. If the Legion is wandering around, he will go on the offensive.

**If your Karma is too high when you try to recruit Old Snake, he'll say "I'm no hero... never was. I'm just an old killer, a shadow on the battlefield. I have no place next to a goody-two-shoes like you."

If your Karma is too low, he'll say "Even I have standards. Sorry, but I don't enjoy killing like you do."

At this time, the Speech option will be made available. If successful, he'll say "I guess I've kept the battlefield waiting long enough... Let's find what was taken from you."
